NEW HAVEN, Conn. – The first full weekend of Ivy League play went quite well for the Yale volleyball team.
Mila Yarich drilled 14 kills, and
Bonnie Bostic added 12 as the Bulldogs completed a weekend sweep with a 3-0 victory over Cornell at the John J. Lee Amphitheater.
Yale (9-3, 2-1 Ivy) beat Columbia 3-0 on Friday.
Against Cornell, the first set was tied at 19 before the Bulldogs scored five of the next six points to take control.
Yale also used a late run to win set two, which was tied at 16-16. The Bulldogs won six straight points and took the set 25-19.
The third set was tied at 22 before Yale won the final three points, including a service ace from
Carly Diehl that brought the Bulldogs to match point.
Yale finished with nine service aces.
Maile Somera led the way with four. Somera also added a match-high 21 digs.
Diehl had two service aces and 33 assists.
After dropping their Ivy opener in five sets to Brown, the Bulldogs have responded with two resounding wins.
Yale is back in Lee Amphitheater again next weekend, hosting Harvard on Friday at 7 p.m. and Dartmouth on Saturday at 5 p.m.
