No. 9 Cavaliers come to Brady Center

NEW HAVEN, Conn. - The No. 5 Yale Women's Squash Team takes the Brady Center court this Saturday at 1 p.m. against No. 9 Virginia in the Elis' first regular-season action since February of 2020. The match airs live on Stretch Internet.

The Bulldogs are led by Lynn Leong, Yale's Brooks G. Ragen Director of Squash. "The pandemic break has made us hungry mentally," said Leong about the team's approach to the season.

She, along with assistant coach and 17-year professional squash veteran Campbell Grayson, hopes to lead Yale to championships this winter by prioritizing team unity and togetherness. "Even though squash is very much an individual sport, I am looking to emphasize the importance of team unity. I love to see everyone buying into the concept of supporting and playing for each other," said Leong.

Much of the leadership in that area falls on the shoulders of captain and graduate student Aishwarya Bhattacharya, who, in the 2019-20 season, won 13 of her 18 matches and helped lead the Elis to a 14-4 record.

Yale won the last meeting with the Cavaliers, 8-1, in 2019.
