PHILADELPHIA, Pa. – It was quite a day for the Yale men's tennis team at the ITA Northeast Regionals at Penn. Bulldogs went 5-0 in singles with all five winning in straight sets. In doubles,
Theo Dean and
Michael Sun won a pair of matches to earn a spot in the ITA Super Regionals later this month.
A pair of first years were among the winners in singles.
Eric Li defeated Assil Boussaayri of St. Francis, N.Y. 6-4, 6-4, while
Vignesh Gogineni earned a 7-5, 6-2 win over Penn's Matt Rutter.
Walker Oberg, Aidan Reilly and
Luke Neal also posted wins.
Li, Oberg, Reilly, Gogineni and Neal will qualify for the Super Regionals with victories on Monday.
After winning their first match of the day 8-6 over a team from Buffalo, Dean and Sun edged Cornell's Petar Teodorovic and Samuel Paquette 8-7, taking the tiebreaker 7-2.
The ITA Northeast Regionals wrap up on Monday.
