It was quite a second day at the San Diego Classic for the Yale softball team. The Bulldogs edged Stony Brook 5-4 in their first game of the day and then rolled to an impressive 7-3 victory over San Diego State.

The first game with Stony Brook was a back-and-forth affair. Yale rallied from a 4-3 deficit by scoring twice in the fifth inning to earn a 5-4 victory over the Seawolves.

Grayson Vives went 2-for-2 and knocked in three runs, while
SJ Mull had three hits and scored a run.

Maddie Latta pitched a complete game, striking out five to earn her first career victory.

The Bulldogs had a 3-0 lead after the first inning, but Stony Brook scored twice in the third and twice in the fourth to take the lead.

Vives' single through the right side scored
Sam Goodcase with the winning run in the fifth.
Â
Yale (2-2) used the long ball to seize control against San Diego State.
Carmen Muscolina and
Katie Donahey each hit two-run homers in the second inning.

Latta added an RBI double in the fifth, and Donahey's single in the sixth scored Muscolina.

Nicole Conway pitched a complete game to earn the victory. She struck out four and scattered eight hits.

The Bulldogs wrap up their stay in San Diego by playing Utah State at 12:30 p.m. EST on Sunday back at UC San Diego.
