Bulldogs Take Down Mercyhurst

NEW HAVEN, Conn. – The Yale women's hockey team defeated Mercyhurst, 3-1, in non-conference action at Ingalls Rink. With the win, the Bulldogs improved to 11-1-1 overall, while the Lakers fell to 9-10-0.
 
How It Happened
  • Avery Chesek's pass up to Emmery Korfmacher at the point started the sequence of Yale's first goal in the second period. Korfmacher launched a shot on net that was swiftly redirected by Naomi Boucher and in.
  • With just over six and a half minutes to play in the third, a two-on-one ensued as Charlotte Welch threaded the needle to a breaking-Carina DiAntonio on the left side for her to bury the shot.
  • Yale's third goal came at the 2:42 marker as Claire Dalton dropped a pass to Welch who was circling around goal. Welch spun off a defender and dropped a backhanded pass for Vita Poniatovskaia to hammer home.
  • Mercyhurst added their lone goal with six seconds left in the game.
