NEW HAVEN, Conn. – The Bulldogs have won seven of eight heading into their first Ivy League road matches of the season. Yale plays at Cornell on Friday and Columbia on Saturday.
Here are notes entering the weekend:
- Audrey Leak was named the AVCA/Gamechanger Division I Player of the Week. She is the first Bulldog ever to earn the national honor.Â
- Leak, who on Monday also earned Ivy League Player of the Week, set career-highs in kills on consecutive nights in two Yale victories over Penn and Princeton. She had 23 against the Quakers, and followed up with 24 the next night. The 23 kills against Penn tied for the third most in a three-set match this season in Division I.
- Yale improved to 6-0 at home this season – including all three Ivy matches the team has played so far.
- Laurece Abraham was named Ivy League Rookie of the Week on Monday. Abraham set a career-high with eight kills, hit .467 and added six blocks against Princeton last Saturday.   She also ranks second in the Ivy League with a .441 hitting percentage in conference play.
- Mila Yarich averaged 3.14 kills per set and 4.86 digs per set in Yale's two victories last weekend.
- The Bulldogs hit .360 as a team in their two victories last weekend. Yale's .416 hitting percentage against Penn marked the highest percentage of any team in an Ivy League conference match this season.
- In Yale's first three Ivy matches, the team leads the conference with a .304 hitting percentage and a 19.00 kills per set average.
- Carly Diehl's 42 assists against Penn was the highest total in a three-set Ivy League match this season, and her 52 assists against Princeton was also the highest total in a four-set match.
Scouting Cornell
The Big Red (4-8, 2-1 Ivy League) have won two of three to start the conference season. Nicole Mallus and Eliza Konvicka are tied for second in kills per set in Ivy League play with 3.50 averages. Cornell also leads the conference in opponent's blocks and have only hit into 17 total blocks in three Ivy matches.
Scouting Columbia
The Lions enter the weekend 0-3 in the Ivy League and 2-10 overall. Logan Harlock leads the team with a 2.50 kills per set average in conference play.
