CAMBRIDGE, Mass. – The No. 7 Yale women's squash team fell to No. 1 Harvard, 9-0, on the road on Friday evening. The Bulldogs record fell to 2-2 overall and 0-1 in the Ivy League, while the Crimson improved to 4-0 overall and 1-0 in the conference.
In the No. 4 slot,
Gigi Yeung nearly pulled off a stunning comeback. After dropping the first two sets, Yeung stormed back to win the third set, 13-11 and fourth set, 11-7. But ultimately, her opponent prevailed in the fifth set in the longest match of the day.
"We faced off against the most dominant team in college squash last night in Cambridge. Everyone in the lineup put forth a strong effort in a loss," said
Lynn Leong, Brooks G. Ragen Director of Squash at Yale. "Despite the result the team remains motivated and resilient. We understand when competing against the best, nothing will come easy."
