Bulldogs Face Local Rivals in Spring Openers

NEW HAVEN, Conn. – The Yale men's tennis team begins the spring portion of the 2023-24 schedule by hosting a pair of local rivals this weekend. The Bulldogs face Fairfield on Saturday and Quinnipiac on Sunday. Both matches are noon starts at the Cullman-Heyman Tennis Center.
 
This weekend is the start of a busy stretch for Yale, which also has home matches next weekend against Temple and Purdue. Other highlights include a trip to Duke and Liberty, the ECAC Indoor Championships and a visit to Southern California for matches against Pepperdine, Nebraska and UC Santa Barbara during spring break in March. Ivy League play begins Apr. 5 at Harvard.
 
The Bulldogs enjoyed a strong fall season, which included numerous qualifiers for ITA events. Three Bulldogs earned ITA national rankings at the end of the fall. Theo Dean was No. 60 in singles, Vignesh Gogineni was No. 100 in singles and the doubles team of Dean and Aidan Reilly was No. 39.
 
Fairfield, the preseason favorite in the MAAC, competed in the Army Spring Kick-off last weekend.
 
The Bobcats opened their spring season by falling to St. John's on Wednesday. They host Hofstra on Saturday.
