Bulldogs Down Quinnipiac in Shootout to Win 2024 Nutmeg Classic

Box Score FAIRFIELD, Conn. – The Yale women's ice hockey team prevailed over Quinnipiac in a shootout to win the 2024 Nutmeg Classic. Cami Bell scored the lone goal in regulation and Gracie Gilkyson netted the deciding shootout attempt to propel the Bulldogs to victory.

After toppling UConn 3-1 on Friday night, Yale responded with a shootout win over Quinnipiac to avenge a loss in the Nutmeg Classic final last year.

Yale goaltender Pia Dukaric was named Most Outstanding Goaltender of the event, recording 48 saves while only allowing two goals throughout the tournament. Carina DiAntonio was named Most Outstanding Player, netting two goals in the semifinal game against UConn. She also recorded an assist on the Bulldogs' lone goal in the final. In addition to Dukaric and DiAntonio, Gilkyson was named to the All-Tournament team for her outstanding defense and clutch shootout goal.

  • OT | The Bulldogs recorded six shots on goal, but could not net the game-winner.
  • SHOOTOUT | After Yale goaltender Pia Dukaric saved the opening shootout attempt, Gracie Gilkyson buried her chance. Dukaric once again was able to knock down the second shot. Following a miss from Vita Poniatovskaia, Dukaric came through for a third consecutive time, knocking the puck away from the QU attacker to seal the shootout victory for the Bulldogs!
Game Notes
  • After falling in the Nutmeg Classic last year to Quinnipiac, the Bulldogs got revenge, prevailing in the shootout.
  • Bell recorded her fourth goal of the season.
  • Dukaric was outstanding all night, recording 31 saves throughout regulation and overtime. She also saved all three attempts during the shootout.
