Box Score NEW HAVEN, Conn. – The Yale men's soccer team came up just short in its season opener, falling to Marquette 1-0 on Friday evening at Reese Stadium.
Justin Milovanov scored the game's lone goal on a strike in the 21st minute to propel the Golden Eagles to their third win of the season.
The Bulldogs fall to 0-1, as Marquette improves to 3-0 this season.
"While disappointed with the result, I'm pleased with how much we grew just in one game. Marquette is a good team that is going to win a lot of games this year and pose a lot of different problems," said
Kylie Stannard, the 5K Corral Head Coach of the Bulldogs.
"Both teams had a couple decent looks at goal before they scored a fantastic goal. We have to be stronger on the ball and not get dispossessed as easily as we did at times but we have to tip our cap to them on a top class strike from distance. They took control for the rest of the first half after that but I think we made some good adjustments at halftime and ultimately thought we were the more dangerous team and created more scoring chances in the second half, but have to execute those opportunities better."
