First Career Goals for Collee, Ramsey in 5-1 Win vs. SHU

NEW HAVEN, Conn. – The Yale field hockey team bounced back in dramatic fashion after allowing the first goal Friday night against Sacred Heart at Johnson Field. The Bulldogs tied the game less than five minutes later and went on to score four more times en route to a decisive 5-1 win. Yale improves to 4-1 overall (0-1 Ivy League), while Sacred Heart drops to 2-5 (0-0 NEC)
 
Summary
  • After Sacred Heart opened the scoring on a goal by Aine Keaney at 3:20, Yale answered with a penalty corner goal at 8:16. Ellie Barlow, the inserter, deflected in a pass from Issy Baileff
  • Barlow struck again on a penalty corner at 23:40 of the second quarter, knocking in a rebound after a shot by Hettie Whittington hit the post.
  • Just over five minutes later, Lauren Venter set up Emma Ramsey for a goal at 28:49 to extend Yale's lead to 3-1.
  • Victoria Collee put the game out of reach with goals in the third quarter (41:05) and fourth quarter (50:58). Both were assisted by Ramsey.
  • Seven saves by Sacred Heart goalkeeper Samantha Maresca kept the score from being more lopsided.
 
Notes
  • Those were the first career goals for Collee and Ramsey.
  • This was the first time in Barlow's career that she scored two goals in a game.
  • Yale had a 29-3 shot advantage and a 9-1 advantage in penalty corners.
  • That was the most shots in a game for Yale since the Bulldogs had 30 shots in a 4-0 win vs. Dartmouth Oct. 30, 2021.
  • CC Wolf made her Yale debut. All 20 of Yale's field players made it into the game.
