NEW HAVEN, Conn. -- Sophomore guard
Ciniya Moore (Bradenton, Fla.) of the Yale women's basketball team has been named Ivy League Player of the Week. The league announced its weekly awards on Monday.
Moore opened some eyes this past Saturday with a career-high 33 point performance at High Point. That was the most points in a game for a Yale player since
Roxy Barahman '20 scored 33 in a 96-86 win at Princeton in overtime Feb. 8, 2019. It was also the fourth time in the last seven games that Moore has set or tied her career high in scoring.
Moore shot .500 (13-for-26) on Saturday. She hit five of six free throws, including a pair with just over a second left in the second overtime to tie the game 83-83. She had a team-best three steals and tied for the team lead with three blocks.
Moore is averaging 17.0 points per game, second-most in the Ivy League (Columbia's Riley Weiss is at 18.1). She has scored in double digits in 12 of Yale's 13 games, including both games last week. Her .878 free throw shooting percentage ranks second in the league, trailing only Penn's Simone Sawyer (.884).
Moore is a graduate of IMG Academy, where she was named Defensive Player of the Year on the IMG National Team in 2023.
This is the third Ivy League weekly award for a Yale player this season. First-year forward
