PRINCETON, N.J. – Princeton's defense put the clamps on Yale Saturday night at Jadwin Gym, limiting the Bulldogs to their fourth-lowest point total of the season. That was enough to deliver a 71-42 Tigers win.
Princeton (17-5, 8-1 Ivy League) jumped out to an 8-0 lead, prompting an early Yale timeout. The Tigers would extend their lead to 12-0 before first-year guard
Ciniya Moore got Yale on the board with an and-one at 4:42. Yale trailed 22-9 after the first.
The second quarter was more evenly played, with Princeton outscoring the Bulldogs 11-7. Yale held Princeton to .267 shooting (4-for-15) in that frame.
Princeton grew its lead to as many as 19 points in the third, but the Bulldogs kept battling and were within 14 heading into the fourth thanks to a late jumper by first-year guard
Marisa Chapman. The Tigers closed out the game by outscoring Yale (2-21, 1-9 Ivy League) 18-13 in the fourth.
