BOSTON, Mass. - The Yale softball team fell to Boston University in a non-conference doubleheader, dropping both games 8-2 and 8-0. The Bulldogs move to 12-12 overall, while the Terriers improve to 14-10.
Game 1: Boston University 8, Yale 2
- T1 | Sophie Woodridge gave Yale an early lead with a two-run home run. (Yale 2, BU 0)
- B2 | The Terriers responded immediately in the bottom half of the inning. An RBI triple cut Yale's lead in half, followed by a two-out single to center that tied the game. (Yale 2, BU 2)
- B5 | After a scoreless third and fourth inning, Boston broke the tie in the fifth. A two-RBI single to left field put the Terriers ahead. They extended the lead with a bases-loaded triple that drove in three more runs, followed by an RBI single through the left side to cap the scoring. (BU 8, Yale 2)
Game 2: Boston University 8, Yale 0 (5 Innings)
- B1 | Boston struck early, scoring four runs on three hits in the first inning.
- B2 | The Terriers added three more runs in the second to take a commanding 7-0 lead.
- B4 | A single up the middle in the fourth inning plated another run, sealing the 8-0, five-inning victory for BU.
Game Notes
- Sophie Woodridge hit her fourth home run of the season (14th of her career) in Game 1.
- Woodridge also reached a milestone, starting her 100th career game as a Bulldog.
- SJ Mull recorded two stolen bases in Game 1, setting a new season high with eight stolen bases.
