Vignesh Gogineni of the Yale men's tennis team saw his run at the ITA All-American Championships come to an end on Saturday, falling to No. 6 Kenta Miyoshi of Illinois in the consolation quarterfinals.
Gogineni started the day with a victory over No. 31 Petar Jovanovic in the consolation main draw round of 16. The senior edged out Jovanovic in a tight opening set, taking the tiebreak 7-6 (3). Jovanovic responded by leveling the match with a 6-2 second set, but Gogineni regained control in the decider, closing it out 6-4 to secure the win.
Against Miyoshi, Gogineni got off to a fast start, dominating the first set with a 6-1 win. Miyoshi, though, bounced back and won the next two sets 6-4 and 6-2.
