Bulldogs Fall to Princeton 2-1

PRINCETON, N.J. – The Yale men's soccer team dropped an Ivy League matchup to Princeton on Saturday evening. The Tigers topped the Bulldogs 2-1 thanks to a penalty kick in the 52nd minute.

With the win, Princeton improved to 6-2-2 overall. Yale dropped to 2-6-1 overall.

"We started well but needed to manage the next 10 minutes better after we scored and if we do better there, it can really change the momentum and energy in the game," Kylie Stannard, the 5K Corral Head Coach of the Bulldogs said. "The effort was certainly there tonight but we lacked some consistency in some important details and fundamentals we had been improving on and need to get back those basics. Despite not being our best today, we showed great fight and we were not far off from coming away with a result."

How it Happened
• 7' | YALE GOAL! Sven Meacham served an arching ball into the box for Ryder Mills, who was able to head it over the Princeton goaltender for the game's first goal. 1-0 YALE
• 19' | Princeton tied the game on a goal by Liam Beckwith. 1-1
• 52' | The Bulldogs were assessed a penalty inside the box. Princeton's Roka Tsunehara buried the ensuing penalty kick to give the Tigers the win. 2-1 PRINCETON

Game Notes
• Mills scored his second goal of the season.
• Meacham tallied his Ivy League-leading sixth assist of the year.
• Yale goaltender Josh Linebaugh recorded five saves.
