Yale Takes Fourth at Ivy Heps Championships; Benun and Chadwick in Top Eight

Shown here: Hebe Chadwick (left) and Phoebe Benun (right) were Yale's top two finishers at Heps.
ATTLEBORO, Mass. – The Yale women's cross country team took fourth place with 94 points at the Ivy League Heptagonal Championships Saturday morning at sunny Highland Park's Mark Coogan Cross Country Course. Princeton won with 33 points, and Penn's Allison Lee was the individual champion (20:14.0).
The Bulldogs:
  • Sophomore Phoebe Benun (seventh, 20:43.5) was Yale's top finisher. She was second among all sophomores at the race; only Princeton's Caroline Barton finished ahead of her. Benun had the team's fastest split in the final 1K (3:23.6), moving up seven spots in that span.
  • Senior Hebe Chadwick (eighth, 20:43.5) finished just behind Benun. She made a dramatic improvement over her previous best Heps finish (30th last year). She and Benun also made Yale one of only two teams to have more than one top-eight finisher (Princeton had three).
  • First-year Anna Prusak (20th, 21:07.9) and junior Zoe Martonfi (25th, 21:21.4) finished within 14 seconds of each other.
  • Senior Daniella Henderson (36th, 21:48.3), Yale's captain, rounded out the Bulldogs' top five.
  • First-year Naomi Douglas (39th, 21:52.1) and junior Julie Piot (41st, 21:54.0) crossed the line within six seconds of Henderson and were Yale's sixth and seventh finishers.
  • Junior Sylvie Sanok Dufallo (49th, 22:04.6), junior Muriel Lovshin (53rd, 22:09.9) and junior Lily Jin (65th, 22:26.9) rounded out Yale's Heps competitors.
