TAMPA, Fla. – The Yale softball team opened the season Friday with a split at the Fonseca Memorial Tournament, earning a 2-0 victory over Boston College before falling 5-0 to host South Florida.
Game 1: Yale 2, Boston College 0
- B1 | The Bulldogs wasted no time getting on the board. Ella Gandolfo led off with a 1-2 single down the left-field line. In her first game in 357 days, Libby Peoples rocketed a triple on her second pitch to score Gandolfo. (Yale 1, BC 0)
- B6 | Scoring was quiet until the sixth inning. With two outs, first-year Demi Donahoe lined a first-pitch double down the left-field line. Isabella Fortini followed with a hit that scored Donahoe from second, giving Yale a 2-0 lead.
Game Notes
- This marked Yale's first win against a Power Four program since defeating Boston College 1-0 on March 25, 1995.
- Emma Taylor earned the win in the circle, throwing a complete-game shutout.
- Libby Peoples went 2-for-3 at the plate with a stolen base.
- In her collegiate debut, Demi Donahoe went 2-for-2 with a double and a run scored.
- Isabella Fortini went 2-for-3 with an RBI.

- B2 | The Bulls broke through in the second inning with two runs on two hits. (USF 2, Yale 0)
