Bulldogs Fall to Bethune-Cookman in Season Opener

VERO BEACH, Fla. – The Yale baseball team dropped a heartbreaker in its season opener. The Bulldogs fell to Bethune-Cookman in the first game of the Andre Dawson Classic in Vero Beach, Fla. Andrey Martinez hit a walk-off home run in the bottom of the ninth to lift the Wildcats over Yale, 7-5.

With the win, Bethune-Cookman improved to 3-2 overall, while Yale dropped to 0-1.

Key Performer
  • Sophomore Jack Ohman delivered a strong start on the mound, picking up where he left off last season. The reigning Ivy League Pitcher of the Year hurled 5.0 innings, allowing one earned run while striking out 10.

  • TOP 4th | The Bulldogs scored two runs in the fourth. Jack Dauer doubled home Garrett Larsen for Yale's first run of the season. The Elis added a second run on an error by the Wildcats. 2-0 YALE

  • Ohman picked up the no-decision. Teo Spadaccini, Tate Evans, and Ben Winslow came on in relief of Ohman.
  • Garrett Larsen went 3-for-4 to kick off his junior year.
  • Dossa added a pair of RBI.
