Multis Take Center Stage on Day One at ECACs

BOSTON – The Yale women's track and field team had three athletes compete in the pentathlon Saturday at the ECAC Championships at BU's Track and Tennis Center. First-year Layni Kaase was the Bulldogs' top finisher, taking third with 3376 points – a total that moves her into a tie for eighth on Yale's all-time list with Louisa (Gerritz) Garry '87

Kaase's performance was highlighted by a third-place finish (2:29.71) in the 800m to conclude the competition. The 697 points she earned in that event helped her rise from fifth to third in the standings.

Brown's Rosa Volpintesta won with 3675 points. Senior Makayla White, Yale's captain, placed fifth with 3252 points and sophomore Alyssa Anderson placed 10th with 3033 points.

The ECAC meet features nearly two dozen schools from throughout the region, including one of Yale's Ivy League rivals (Brown). Competition concludes Sunday.
