Tang Named Captain of Women’s Golf

NEW HAVEN, Conn. – Lauren Austin, the Liu Family Head Coach of Women's Golf, has announced that Selena Tang has been selected as team captain for the 2026-27 academic year.

"Selena is extremely deserving and ready to serve in the captain role for her upcoming senior year," said Austin on Tang's election. "She has the respect and trust of her teammates and our coaching staff. Selena's can-do attitude and refusal to ever give up sets a strong tone within our group. She will be a strong captain, and we are looking forward to a great year."

Tang has competed in 19 tournaments since arriving in New Haven in 2023 and has posted six top-25 finishes. As she enters her senior year, she will serve as a leader for a Yale team that returns significant experience from last season.

"I'm honored to be named captain and excited for the year ahead," said Tang. "What I value most about this role is being someone my teammates can count on and helping contribute to the supportive, competitive culture that makes our team special. We all play a part in pushing and supporting one another, and I'm looking forward to continuing to grow together both on and off the course."

Tang has also excelled in the classroom. An economics major, Tang has been recognized for her academic excellence by the Women's Golf Coaches Association (WGCA) as an All-American Scholar.
