NEW HAVEN, Conn. -- Marat Israelian, head coach of the Yale fencing program, has announced that Audrey Lin and Nicholas Kim have been named 2025-26 captains for the men's and women's fencing teams, respectively. 

Lin, a junior on the women's squad, has been a standout for the Bulldogs over her first two years at Yale. As a first year, she qualified for the NCAA Championship in saber. She placed in the top-11 in her weapon at the Ivy League Championships and also participated at NCAA Regionals both years. 

"Becoming a captain allows me to learn how to be a leader, serve my team, and work harder to set a good example, especially for the underclassmen," Lin said.

Kim, a senior, will captain the men's team in 2026-27. Kim narrowly missed out on Ivy League honors the past two seasons placing seventh and eighth in foil during his sophomore and junior seasons, respectively. He also recorded an eighth-place finish at NCAA Regionals last year. 

"To me, being a captain means being a leader who brings out the best in every teammate while building a strong sense of unity and cohesion across the team," Kim said. 

The Yale fencing teams will kick off the 2026-27 campaign on November 1 at New York University.
