John Miller

John Miller joined the Yale women’s basketball staff in the summer of 2019, bringing 13 seasons of assistant coaching experience. In his first season in New Haven, he served as director of player development and helped the Bulldogs tie the school wins record (19).

Prior to joining the Bulldogs Miller spent five seasons as an assistant coach at Richmond and seven seasons as an assistant coach at Rider, honing his skills as a coach and recruiter.

At Richmond Miller coached the posts and guards, helping the Spiders to a WNIT berth (and a first-round win) in 2014-15. That season they finished with the team’s most Atlantic 10 conference wins in 10 seasons. Miller recruited and developed four all-conference players and one all-rookie team selection. In 2019 he helped the Spiders land a top 100 recruit, and during his tenure they had one of the A10’s top five recruiting classes for three straight seasons.

At Rider, where he coached the guards, Miller helped the Broncs to back-to-back seasons with the fifth-most wins in school history (15, 2012-13 and 2013-14). In 2012-13 he helped the team tie the school record for MAAC wins in a season (10). As offensive coordinator, he oversaw an improvement from 10th to third in the conference in offense. He also recruited and developed six all-conference and five all-rookie team selections, including a conference player of the year.

Prior to joining the Rider staff, Miller spent a season as an assistant coach at Mount St. Mary’s in 2006-07. That year, Miller helped The Mount to the program’s most NEC wins (10) in six seasons.

Miller graduated from Mount St. Mary’s in 2006 with a degree in business and earned his MBA from The Mount in 2008. A Pennsylvania native, he is a graduate of Marian High School, where he was the Times News Golfer of the Year in 2002.
