Sam Greil

Sam Greil joined the Yale staff in March 2023 as Assistant Athletic Director, Brand Management. In his role, he will oversee the equipment and brand operations for the athletic department and its 35 programs.
 
Greil joined the department after spending a year and a half as the director of equipment operations at Cornell in Ithaca, N.Y. At Cornell, he was responsible for all equipment-related functions for the department's 37 varsity programs and more than 1,200 student-athletes.
 
Before Cornell, Greil worked in the athletic department at Georgetown University. He joined the Hoyas in September 2015 as an equipment manager. After working in that role for two years, he was promoted to the director of equipment and transportation. In that position, he oversaw the day-to-day operations for the football program, including practice and gameday functions.  
 
As an undergraduate, Greil served as a four-year manager and coaches' assistant for the football team at the University of Massachusetts. The summer after graduation, he landed an internship with the Tampa Bay Buccaneers equipment department.
 
Greil earned his bachelor’s degree in sport management from the University of Massachusetts in 2015 and went on to earn his Master of Professional Studies in sports industry management from Georgetown in 2018.
