Walton, who joined the Yale staff in 2000, has been aninspiration to the Bulldogs. After her sophomore year at Yale, shewas involved in an automobile accident which put her career onhold. She overcame a coma and physical injuries with hard work anddedication.

As a sophomore, Walton led Yale in goals (17) and scoring(35), received NFHCA Mid-East Region First Team All-America andfirst team All-Ivy honors. As a freshman, Walton was named IvyLeague Rookie of the Year, as well as NFHCA Mid-East Region FirstTeam All-America and second team All-Ivy. She tied the schoolrecord in scoring with 39 points.

Walton was also a standout lacrosse player, receiving first teamAll-Ivy honors in 2000 and being named Ivy League Rookie of theYear.

In January 2003, Walton received the NCAA Inspiration Award,which honors individuals who overcome life-altering situations. Shedelivered a powerful speech about the new challenges in her life toan audience of more than 2,000. She also is the recipient of theECAC Valor Award and won Yale University's inaugural Amanda WaltonAward.
