WASHINGTON — Yale men's squash collected comfortable 8-1 victories against No. 17 George Washington and No. 14 Navy on Saturday, putting the team back on track after losing back-to-back matches earlier this week. 

In the first match, the Bulldogs exhibited their talent as seven of their eight victories came in the minimum three games. 

Freshman Thomas Kingshott outlasted his opponent in five games, while sophomore Liam McClintock fell in five for the Bulldogs' only loss of the first contest. 

The second match of the day pitted Yale against Navy. While the 8-1 margin gave the squad a safe victory, the Midshipmen pushed the Bulldogs harder than the score indicated, with four matches going to a winner-takes-all fifth game. 

At No. 9, freshman Arjun Kocchar overcame a 2-1 deficit with wins in his final two games (11-7, 9-11, 8-11, 11-2, 12-10). 

Kingshott, playing in the fifth spot, absorbed the Bulldogs' only loss of the day. The freshman played well after dropping the first game, winning the next two in convincing fashion before coming up short twice in close competition. 

McClintock earned his victory at No. 4 in a back-and-forth match that hung in the balance until the final game, in which McClintock handily disposed of his opponent with an 11-3 win. 

In the third slot, freshman Edward Columbia got off to a fast start, building a 2-0 lead. However, it would take Columbia three more games to finally shake off his counterpart and seal the win. 

The pair of victories give the team a boost as they return from this road trip. Yale returns to action next weekend with an Ivy League doubleheader, as the Bulldogs host No. 10 Penn and No. 8 Princeton at the Brady Squash Center.
