Box Score The Bulldogs dropped a 9-0 decision to UNLV in their final game of the Bear Down Fiesta in Tuscon, Ariz.
The game wrapped up a weekend of competition including No. 8 Arizona and today's opponent UNLV, which was picked to win the Mountain West Conference. Next up, Yale hosts Harvard on Saturday for its home-opener and first Ivy League games of the year.
The highlight of the day was a catch by
Katie Donahey in the fifth. She ran and jumped up against the right-center field wall to rob a possible home run to end the inning.
Despite getting runners on base in four of the five innings, the Bulldogs could not plate a run. After
Nicole Conway pitched a scoreless first,
Sam Goodcase drew a walk in the bottom and was left stranded.
UNLV scored five in the second and kept Yale off the board later in the inning. In the third,
Lauren Perren and Donahey singled and were left on base.
Maddie Latta led off the fourth with a walk and
Sophie Woodridge singled in the fifth inning. Yale dropped to 2-8 overall and UNLV improved to 18-5.
Now it's on to the Ivy League season. The Bulldogs host the Crimson on Saturday for a doubleheader beginning at 12:30 p.m.
