NEW HAVEN, Conn. – Maddie Latta and Grayson Vives each continued their hot hitting for the Yale softball team, but the Bulldogs dropped the rubber game of a three-game series against Brown, falling 15-5 on a rainy and dreary afternoon at 5K Corral Field at DeWitt Family Stadium.
 
Latta was 2-for-3 with an RBI, while Vives also had two hits and scored a run.
 
Yale jumped out to a 5-0 lead in the bottom of the first inning. Carolyn Skotz drew a walk and Carmen Muscolina followed with a bunt single to start the rally. Sam Goodcase's single to left scored Skotz with the first run. Latta then doubled home Muscolina and Goodcase scored on a wild pitch. Walks to Vives, Mady Smith and Willa Ferrer loaded the bases, and Gretchen Bunovsky's two-run single capped the scoring.
 
Brown had pulled to within 5-3 in the third inning when a steady rain forced a nearly 90-minute delay. When play resumed, the Bears completed their five-run inning to tie the score.
 
Brown then scored one run in the fourth, four in the fifth and five in the sixth to complete the victory.
 
The Bulldogs are back at home on Wednesday, hosting Quinnipiac at 3 p.m.
