PHILADELPHIA, Pa. – It was another very strong Sunday for the Yale women's fencing team. The Bulldogs posted a 4-1 record at the Philadelphia Invitational, including a victory over Notre Dame. Yale edged the Irish 14-13 and also had wins over NYU, 23-4, Temple, 16-11, and Wayne State, 24-3. The only blemish was a 14-13 loss to Northwestern in the fifth and final bout of the day.
The Bulldogs now have a 14-2 overall record on the season.
Against Notre Dame, Yale won foil 6-3 and sabre 5-4, while the Irish had a 6-3 edge in epee.
Emme Zhou (foil) and
Stephanie Cao (saber) were each 3-0 for the Bulldogs.
The saber squad came up big in the win over Temple, winning eight of nine bouts.
Yale has its only home meet of the season next Saturday. The Bulldogs host Sacred Heart and Vassar in the Yale Invitational.
