POUGHKEEPSIE, N.Y. -- The Yale men's and women's fencing teams kicked off the 2024-25 campaign at the Vassar Open Invitational in Poughkeepsie, N.Y. on Sunday. Both teams were successful with the men's team registering an undefeated 5-0 record. The women's squad went 6-1 overall.
The men's team rolled to victory in each of their matchups. The Bulldogs defeated Drew, Stevens, Lafayette, Johns Hopkins and Sacred Heart en route to a perfect day. The squad was effective with all three weapons particularly saber and epee. Yale amassed a record of 34-11 throughout the event in saber and 35-10 in epee.

The women's squad won against its first six opponents: Yeshiva, Tufts, Sacred Heart, FDU, Lafayette and Vassar. In the team's final matchup of the day, the Bulldogs dropped a hard-fought contest to No. 8 Cornell. The Elis had remarkable success in foil, registering a combined record of 58-5 during the event.
