NEW HAVEN, Conn. -- Junior
Audrey Foley was named as the NEISA Sailor of the Week for her performance during the weekend of Sept. 18-19.
Foley captured the NEISA Women's Singlehanded Championship in Massachusetts at the two-day regatta. After the first day of racing in four very shifty races, Foley sat in second place overall, two points behind regatta leader Kate Danielson from Harvard. Saturday brought markedly different conditions with a fading easterly breeze and the two boats from Harvard and Yale traded the lead throughout most of the day. In the latter half of the afternoon, Foley found her groove, winning four of the final five races to take over the lead and ultimately extend to a commanding 12-point victory in the small but extremely competitive fleet. This conference championship victory earns Foley an automatic berth to the ICSA Women's Singlehanded National Championship in November.
Foley and the Bulldogs will be back in action on Oct. 3 at four regattas throughout the Northeast.
