Sessa Shines at Home, Finishes Second at Valspar Augusta Invitational

AUGUSTA, Ga. – In front of her hometown crowd, Mia Sessa posted a runner-up finish as the Yale women's golf team competed in the Valspar Augusta Invitational at the Forest Hills Golf Club. 

At the conclusion of rounds one and two, Sessa was tied for fourth as the Bulldogs sat in a tie for eighth. In round one, Sessa shot an even-par 72, followed by a 70 (two-under) in round two.

In round three, Sessa surged with her lowest round of the tournament, firing a 68 (-3) to propel herself to a second-place finish.

"The work that Mia has put into all facets of her game is evident," said Lauren Harling Austin, Liu Family Head Coach. "Playing in front of your hometown crowd is never easy, and she rose to the occasion with focus and determination. We're proud of her fight!"

Out of a 17-team field, the Bulldogs finished in a tie for ninth after shooting an 894 (+30) over the three-round event.
