NEW HAVEN, Conn. – Rising senior
Lucas Mylon (Concord, Mass.) has been elected captain of the Yale men's track and field team for the 2026-27 season. He was chosen via a team vote.
Mylon, a sprinter, takes on the leadership role as Yale comes off a 2025-26 season that saw the Bulldogs break four school records and deliver 28 times/marks that rank among the top 10 on Yale's all-time lists.
"Heading into next season, I'm constantly thinking about how we can continue to move the needle — both culturally and competitively," said Mylon. "I expect that we pick up right where we left off: getting stronger, faster, and more united, while continuing to rise within the Ivy League. I'm excited to see more records fall and more of my teammates step up and score at championship meets. The trajectory this program is on is something special."
Mylon has competed at the Ivy League Heptagonal Championships indoors and outdoors in each of the past two seasons. He points to the 4x400m relay record that he was a part of at Outdoor Heps this past May as a highlight of his time at Yale. The relay team's time of 3:09.34 set the school record in that event (the record in the 4x440y relay, 3:13.3, was set in 1968).
"My most memorable moment with the team has to be this past year's Ivy League Outdoor Championship Meet, where I ran on the 4x400m relay, and we set a new school record," said Mylon. "What made it even more special was that the previous [4x440y] record had stood since 1968, so to finally break that and continue moving the program forward was something truly extraordinary. It was a particularly meaningful moment for our graduating captain,
Andrew Farr '26, who got to close out his Yale career in such a remarkable way."
Mylon was also a part of the second-best 4x100m relay performance in school history outdoors this past season (40.51, with Farr, rising sophomore
Jozef Miesak and rising sophomore
Graham Houghton). Indoors, he was part of the eighth-best 4x400m relay (3:13.73, with Miesak, rising senior
Finnegan Quinn and Farr).
Mylon is part of a rising senior class that also includes
Chu Anueyiagu (Trumbull, Conn.),
Antonio Bravo (Old Greenwich, Conn.),
Daegan Cutter (San Anselmo, Calif.),
Jamaal Darlington (London, U.K.),
Jack Diaz (Casper, Wyo.),

Caden Montini (Gainesville, Fla.),

Mylon is majoring in economics with a certificate in programming. He is a member of Yale Undergraduate Diversified Investments, the Yale Entrepreneurial Society and the Yale Undergraduate Hedge Fund Association. He serves as a tax preparer with Volunteer Income Tax Assistance and is a member of the Yale Photo Society. This summer, he is working at Morgan Stanley in the Institutional Equities Division, helping service clients with investment strategies and execution.
"I'm genuinely excited for the opportunity — I see it as a great way to test whether this is a path I want to pursue full-time after Yale," said Mylon. "More broadly, I think this is exactly the right time in life to try everything, take every opportunity, and figure out what truly ignites your passion."
Mylon is a graduate of Middlesex High School.
