Bulldogs Honor Seven with Team Awards for 2025-26

NEW HAVEN, Conn. — The Yale men's track and field team recognized seven student-athletes with a total of nine team awards at the conclusion of the season.
  • The Lee Calhoun Award is given annually in memory of Lee Calhoun, Yale Men's Head Track Coach from 1975-1980. It is presented annually to the most outstanding member of the sprints and hurdles event group. This year's recipient was senior Andrew Farr (Gorham, Me.). This indoor season Farr posted the second-best 60m time in school history (6.69), and was a part of the eighth-fastest 4x400 meter relay in school history (3:13.73). Outdoors this year, he was a part of the school record-setting 4x400 meter relay (3:09.34) and the second-best 4x100 meter relay in school history (40.51).
  • The Outstanding Middle-Distance Runner award was given to senior Owen Karas (Columbus, Ohio), who also won this award last year. Indoors this year Karas set the school 5K record (13:51.46) and posted the fourth-best 1000m mark in school history (2:23.62). He also was part of the seventh-best distance medley relay in school history (9:48.08). Outdoors, he set the school 5K record (13:47.74) and was part of the eighth-best 4x800 meter relay in school history (7:27.40).
  • The Outstanding Distance Runner award was given to first-year Magnus Manley (Ridgefield, Conn.). Indoors, Manley had the 10th best 3000m time in school history (8:06.68) and was part of the seventh-best distance medley relay in school history (9:48.08). Outdoors, he posted the sixth-best 5K time in school history (14:03.92). 
  • Sophomore Orion Browne (Hatfield, Mass.) won the Outstanding Jumper Award. Indoors, Browne posted the fourth-best triple jump mark in school history (14.77m). Outdoors, his mark of 14.85m ranks fifth at Yale.
  • The Outstanding Thrower Award was given to senior Nolan Recker (Muscatine, Ia.). He also won this award last year. Indoors this year, Recker set the school record in the weight throw (21.04m). Outdoors, his hammer throw mark of 62.59m ranked second all-time at Yale.
  • The Gardner Millett Award, presented to an outstanding member of the men's track and field team who excels in sportsmanship, courage, and inspiration, is given annually in memory of Gardner Millett Jr., Yale Class of 1938. This year's recipient was senior Braden King (Sacramento, Calif.).
  • The Most Outstanding First-Year Award was given to Alexander Johnson (Essex, Vt.). Johnson's mark of 16.51m in the shot put outdoors placed eighth on Yale's all-time list.
  • The Most Improved Athlete Award was given to Farr.
  • The James Stack '61 Award is presented annually to the male and female track and field athletes who best personify Stack, the captain and leader of the 1961 team that won the "Big Three", Heptagonal and IC4A Championships. Karas was this year's winner. He also won the award last year.
