Box Score Frappier Posts Double-Double in Loss
PRINCETON, N.J. -- Despite a double-double performance from Allie Frappier, the Bulldogs lost at Princeton, 3-1, on Friday night. The scores of the match were 25-23, 23-25, 25-20 and 25-20.
Frappier posted a team-high 17 kills and added 14 digs, while Mollie Rogers had 13 kills and nine digs. It wasn't enough to overcome the Tigers tonight.
The opening set was a sign of things to come – Yale came close to winning the set but fell short.
With the set tied at 22, Princeton scored consecutive points on a Cathryn Quinn kill and an attack error. Maddie Rudnick responded with a kill before Quinn ended the set.
The second set was also close. Lydia Rudnick, who notched a match-high 25 kills, tied the set at 17.
The Bulldogs (11-5, 4-1 Ivy) had an answer this time. Maddie Rudnick set up Frappier and Kendall Polan assisted on a McHaney Carter blast to give Yale a 19-17 lead.
Polan finished with 40 assists, 11 digs and five kills.
It was a lead Yale would not give up. Bridget Hearst wrapped up the set with one of her six kills.
In a pivotal third set, Haley Wessels gave the Bulldogs a 13-9 lead with a kill. Princeton came back with four straight points.
The set would be tied two more times before the Tigers broke off three straight to take an 18-15 lead and eventually take the set.
With Princeton up 23-17 in the fourth, Rogers provided a kill and Yale capitalized on an error to pull within four and force a Tigers timeout. Lydia Rudnick followed with a kill, Rogers responded and Sarah Hannah ended the match for Princeton.
The Bulldogs return to action tomorrow at Penn. The match time is set for 5 p.m.
